PROJECT: Wright Street, Middle Park

10 21 and 23 Wright Street in Middle Park are the very latest collaborations from Archie Contes of Neovision and Kate Walker of Kate Walker Design. Together they have delivered two outstanding projects reflecting both flair and character.

From the street front you are taken back in time with the gorgeous Victorian fascades in full glory. Sensitively and painstakingly renovated to retain their original look from the block work to the chimneys, Archie Contes and his team have ensured every 19th Century detail is maintained.

The original front of the homes are superbly juxtaposed with a modern rear section to create two amazingly liveable family abodes. Specified, sourced and supplied by KWD are the bold exfoliated granite stepping stones in black pearl combined with bluestone pavers in an eye catching French pattern design. Sleek and ultra contemporary, yet all very low maintenance.

Inside the properties is where the true luxury hides. Classic Turkish cross cut honed and filled travertine of the highest quality has been used on the downstairs floors. It’s popularity is understandable given the quality and timeless look it creates. KWD only sources the highest grade of travertine available which ensures consistency incolour, tone and calibration.  Always be aware when purchasing travertine, as not all grades offer this assurance.

IMG_8052 The showcase kitchens are a brilliant blend of black, oyster and warm timber. The benchtops are Cosmic Black granite in a leather finish. Ridiculously edgy and bold, whilst working beautifully to tie in the colours and textures of the cupboards . Gloss 2pak in Oyster Grey combined with timber veneer joinery in Salt Bush make up the kitchen cabinetry. Splashbacks are a bronze tinted mirror. Carbon fibre door hardware completes the spaces.

Creating some continuity, the Turkish Travertine used downstairs has also been laid throughout the bathrooms from floor to ceiling. It’s a warm and inviting look that won’t easily date. Black leather-look tiles were used as a feature in the powder rooms, which added a touch of drama and sophistication.

Luxuriously soft under foot is Solution Dyed nylon carpet in Charcoal self stripe. Another KWD specification.

Back outside, Kate called on Melinda Day from Three Trees Landscaping to incorporate her skills with the garden concepts and plant selection. The result is a modern, usable space, that is a pleasure to be in, surrounded by greenery, yet still practical as a potential off street parking space.
