In part 2 of this feature project we highlight the two front townhouses at 23 Barkly Street. In collaboration with Joseph Alesci and Hallbury Homes, Kate Walker of Kate Walker Design assisted in the specification and sourcing of many of the hard finishes. These included the stone, engineered flooring, carpet and the latest in contemporary porcelain and stone tiles throughout.

PRODUCTS SPECIFIED – Classic Scheme.

Main Flooring: Wide Board Pre-Finished Engineered flooring in Smoked Oak. Now the most popular type of timber flooring used globally, engineered timber is remarkably strong and durable. Each plank comprises two or more layers of oak wood placed on top of multiple layers of thinly cut hardwood and softwood plantation timbers. The wide Oak boards used in this project reflect a timeless space and suit any home style from industrial to period. Sourced from only sustainable timber plantations this product is also a winner for the environment.

Outdoors: Honed Bluestone 600×300 floor tiles on front balconies for their minimal fuss yet optimum sophistication. Turkish Travertine 600×300 honed, cross-cut and filled was used to create the impressive wall features of these two front properties.

Kitchen Bench top and Bathroom Vanities: 80mm Caesarstone in Almond Rocca. A smooth soft, modern look, these bench tops are a luxury feature. Caesarstone engineered stone surfaces are a smart alternative to products such as marble and granite for kitchen bench tops and splashbacks as well as bathroom vanities and wall linings, due to their impervious properties. These kitchens are flooded with soft light which combine beautifully with the overall ambient colour scheme.

Bathroom and Ensuite Tiles: Floor to ceiling porcelain Limestone polished tiles 600×600. Utilising the latest in Nanotechnology, these sublime tiles require no sealing. Feature splashbacks in the bathrooms comprise Penny Round Travertine stone mosaic tiles. The overall look perfectly complements the classic feel of these two homes.
