Whilst specifying, sourcing and supplying the hard finishes for this project, the team at KWD worked closely with a Mornington Peninsula developer to satisfy their vision of creating the perfect Flinders beach house. The developer wanted an interior that generates a relaxed coastal feel, however at the same time, aimed to incorporate rustic farmhouse elements to construct the perfect balance of coast and country that encapsulates the essence of Flinders itself.
Keeping this in mind, the team at KWD worked tirelessly to source the perfect products that satisfied this particular brief. A palette of natural finishes were chosen to reflect the calming coastal air of the property, using divine American Oak floorboards for the common areas, natural sisal loop carpet for the bedrooms, and by importing sublime Turkish Travertine to tile the bathroom from floor to ceiling.
The balance of coast and country was reflected in the choice to use handmade subway tiles laid in the on trend herringbone pattern, that paired back to and mimicked the vaulted ceiling with exposed triangular beams.
At the completion of the project, both the team at KWD and the developer of the property were more than happy with the outcome, where the careful selection of hard finishes saw the design brief fully satisfied. The property was recently sold by Kay and Burton Flinders. A link to their listing can be found below.
