Designer in Focus: Joseph Dirand

The award winning Parisian architect, Joseph Dirand’s ability to infuse light and space into his work is unmatched by many in his field.

Dirand has worked with a plethora of fashion houses and designers, including the likes of Chloe, Pucci, Balmain, Rick Owens and Alexander Wang to create minimalist spaces that highlight the essence of high fashion.

His style is iconic, characterised by impeccable proportions, strong lines, and breathtaking precision, it is the meeting of classicism and minimalism.

KWD loves Dirand’s ability to transform an old space to a modern a fresh one without loosing its original charm. The rich and characteristic marble used for the island bench above paired with the matte black stools and European Oak timber create an edgy feel within the heritage shell of the building.

The Alexander Wang store that Dirand so artfully created is simply incredible. The stone archways and almost black European Oak timber flooring create a natural and minimalist aesthetic, allowing the clothes to be the highlight of this ‘runway-esque’ store.

The team at KWD is currently drooling over Dirand’s Balmain store. From the luxe mix of gold and deep grey to the classic tiled floor, everything oozes style and sophistication.

KWD loves the heavy use of marble in this bathroom. the marble wash plane and the marble storage are both practical and stylish. We are positively in love with this look.
