KWD was recently engaged by a group of developers to assist with two townhouses they were building in Mornington. We were tasked with supporting them through the process of bringing about what would be a profitable and ground-breaking development.
The goal? Assist the developers in creating two modern, super stylish townhouses that would bring a welcome facelift the bustling seaside town.
The developers engaged the services of KWD as they understood the importance of working with a team who understand the local real estate market – what local buyers are looking for and what their hot buttons are. They appreciated what a saving they would make in terms of time and budget by employing our services as specialists in quality hard finishes. They also knew that our buying power would ensure we could supply materials at prices that would make the project viable.
In order to create a cutting edge look reflective of high end architecturally designed properties in Melbourne, we moved away from the standard development one is used to seeing on the Mornington Peninsula – the contemporary boxy style of home with timber or concrete floors.
We turned that design on its head, literally, designing a Scandinavian feel with timber on the ceiling of the downstairs living area complemented by large format good quality Italian tiles on the floor. We brought in coastal elements like V-groove joinery and Carrara marble.
Externally it was important to create a synergistic style. The two townhouses share a common wall, so we clad the exterior in different natural stones so that the properties have a unique yet compatible identity.
Internally, the spacious master suite and deluxe ensuite sit alongside two large bedrooms and a family/guest bathroom. There is a large living area upstairs as well as the main living area downstairs which features a hostess-style integrated kitchen with Carrara marble bench tops, a butler’s pantry and Miele appliances. With a designer stringer staircase and an elevator to the second floor, the property offers the ultimate in a contemporary coastal lifestyle.
