There’s so much to love about this home. I know the property intimately, and it is very special. I have enjoyed wonderful holidays in this house with my children, friends and family, lying in the backyard in the sunshine, having a picnic on the lawn and drinking my favourite cocktail – a Moscow Mule served in a copper cup (read on for the recipe, they are a family favourite). Many a balmy night has been spent sitting under the stars with the gorgeous ocean breeze passing through, and lazy mornings spent strolling a few minutes down the road to one of the most pristine beaches you’ll ever see. Holiday heaven.
Everything about this home just works. Thought, care and loving attention to detail can be seen in every part of the property, from the manicured nature strip to the tall back fence where a majestic gum tree, native shrubbery and leafy plants ensure privacy. The landscaping is a triumph, creating a hideaway from the street. A family entertaining area that’s ideal for all ages has been designed to make the most of the ample backyard, complete with lawn, cubby house, in-ground trampoline, meals area and glass-fenced pool that enjoys uninterrupted sunshine all day long.
Designed in quintessential Hamptons style, with interiors by Amy Spargo of Maine House Interiors, this beachside home has a coastal feel but there’s nothing cliche or beachy about it. An immaculate family residence, the house has been newly rebuilt and flawlessly crafted with the highest quality materials and finishes, and the original beach house features have been lovingly restored to show the history of the house. Everything about this home just feels right from the moment you walk in, and that has a lot to do with the flow and layout, and the harmonious colours and finishes used in every room – many of which we incorporate in KWD projects in Victoria.
Bespoke joinery has been used throughout the house, from the kitchen and living areas to the bedrooms and bathrooms, with blackbutt timber flooring bringing the whole Hamptons look together. The beautiful light, bright and open kitchen is large and easy to work in – we’ve enjoyed cooking many a family meal here, with friends often popping by for a casual BBQ (and a cocktail or two). The Smeg gas appliances, white timber joinery and Carrara stone bench tops complete the streamlined look and make the whole space really functional.
The soft and inviting interior design style creates a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. You feel like curling up on the sofa with a good book or simply staring at the soft greenery outside framed by the beautiful expanse of heritage windows. Natural light is everywhere and the bright white colour scheme highlights the soft green and blue decor. The open plan living area opens onto a large deck, creating an elegant and functional outdoor entertaining area perfect for relaxed family BBQs and intimate dinner parties.
The property is much larger than you imagine at first view. With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, there is plenty of space and privacy for an extended family (and guests too). The bedrooms are light-filled and the spacious master bedroom has a well designed ensuite bathroom. Each room has ample storage with specially designed built-in robes, which maintains the clean lines and open and airy feel.
We love this very special property. It has everything you could want in a tropical, Hamptons style home. The air conditioning is a relief on really hot and humid days and it’s nice not having to worry about keeping the garden watered – auto irrigation was built into the landscaping scheme. There’s even an intercom so you can see who’s at the front door, and an alarm system so you feel safe and secure when you’re away from the house.
Our holidays here have created many special memories. Being so close to Miami Beach in such an exclusive position meant we could head to the beach every day for a morning walk, picnic lunch or evening swim, and I know the locals love that it is so close transport, shops and schools. We will truly miss spending such fun-filled, relaxed holidays in this gorgeous home, but I know it will make the most wonderful home or holiday home for a very lucky family.
