At KWD we are all about hard finishes – we love stone, timber and all things natural and textured. But what is texture without colour? Yes we love colour too!
And we love Pantone. They are our go-to resource for colour inspiration (and for the gorgeous mugs we use in our office). This year’s Pantone colour of the year is Greenery (15-0343), and we adore it.
So why is Greenery the Pantone colour of the year for 2017? It’s all about freshness. This yellow-green shade restores and refreshes, and encourages us to relax, wind down and breathe. It perfectly complements the return of the indoor plant too, bringing the outside in with the softness of foliage.
“PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery is life affirming,” explains Pantone. “Emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions this tangy yellow green shade speaks to our desire to express, explore, experiment and reinvent, imparting a sense of buoyancy. Through its reassuring, assertive vibrancy and vitality, PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery gives us the self-assurance and boldness to live life on our own terms, redefining what makes us successful and happy. A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.”
Easy to blend with a wide variety of colour palettes, ‘Greenery’ is nature’s neutral. It’s a versatile, trans-seasonal shade that can be married with pastels, neutrals, brights and metallics.
For the home Greenery can act as an accent with shades of pinks or blues, or become the base colour for a complete room refurbishment, looking fresh and bold against white.
Ideal for paint colours, soft furnishings, wallpaper and furniture, Greenery can also be brought in to the home with joinery and patterned floor tiles. We love interiors with style, personality and a little eccentricity.
So how can you use Greenery in your home? KWD recommends adding a mosaic floor tile to your bathroom or laundry with patterned shades of Greenery, or using Greenery for kitchen joinery, window shutters or a stylish statement stair runner.
If you’re not ready to add permanent Greenery to your home, simply choose some leafy indoor plants for your kitchen or bathroom, or put fresh tree branches in a vase on your dining table. Why not search for some accent pieces of furniture in the right shade of green – dining chairs, kitchen stools, occasional tables, standard lamps – or highlight your current decor with scatter cushions and throws in leafy or jungle patterns to bring out the greenery with little fuss. You can even freshen up a tired outdoor area with easy care Eco Grass – now there’s an idea!
So embrace the new and think about how texture and colour can work in your home, to add freshness and vitality for the year ahead, from a simple decor update to a complete design refurbishment. Add some Greenery to your life and bring your home alive with this fresh and inviting shade of nature.

This is one of the best posts on Greenery that I’ve seen so far! Love it!
