Project: Otto Fish and Chips

Location: 47 Mt Eliza Way, Mt Eliza, 3930.

Otto Fish and Chips is the latest seafood outlet to open in Melbourne’s chic bayside suburb of Mt Eliza. It is a family friendly establishment offering both takeaway and eat-in options. Whilst still ultimately a local fish and chip shop it has several unique features distinguishing it from others. Scrumptious fresh food sourced from local suppliers is one of them, and a superb new fit out is another.

Kate was given a specific brief when asked to source all of the shop’s hard finishes. They needed to reflect the business’ branding and create a contemporary setting. The fit out also needed to form an inviting and warm environment.

PRODUCTS SPECIFIED:

Counter Top – Caesar Stone in Osprey blends effortlessly into the overall contemporary fit out. Its durability and sleek look made it an obvious choice for a busy food outlet.

Counter Tiles – On the vertical wall under the counter top Kate has sourced beautiful Carrara Marble Scallop Mosaic tiles. These tiles add warmth and sophistication whilst subtly reflecting the ocean and marine theme.

Flooring – A commercial grade vinyl in a forgiving grey covers the shop floor. It’s ideal for high traffic areas whilst looking sharp and on trend.

Feature Wall Tiles – Several different wall tiles were chosen to create separate features. A utilitarian rectified gloss wall tile 300×600 was used alongside the latest release in timber tiles. The timber tiles are unique, practical and warm. Another feature wall incorporates grey gloss tiles 300×100.

Furniture Installation – Kate sourced modern metal stools from Matt Blatt in a silver metallic with a single orange feature stool in keeping with the company’s branding.

Lighting: The vintage inspired hanging fittings are from Beacon Lighting’s Mix n Match series. They have been chosen to give the shop a slightly industrial feel.
